Junior Field Protection Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning of Siemens Protection and Automation systems on-site
• Develop SAT (Site Acceptance Test) and FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) protocols and prepare technical documentation
• Conduct Pre-FAT and FAT activities for protection panels including AVR, LIBBP, HIBBP, and TIP in collaboration with customers
• Compose commissioning procedures, method statements, work permits, and testing protocols for project execution
• Facilitate product feedback loops, obtain approvals, and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Deliver technical presentations to customers and stakeholders regarding protection systems
• Analyze faults and perform root cause investigations on protection systems to ensure reliability

Candidate Profile

• Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical & Communication Engineering
• Possesses 2 to 3 years of experience in protection and automation commissioning within the power sector
• Has worked in multicultural and international project environments, preferably in the Middle East or other global markets
• Hands-on knowledge of Siemens protection platforms such as SIPROTEC 4, SIPROTEC 5, and Reyrolle
• Familiarity with power quality measures and substation automation systems
• Strong grasp of IEC 61850 communication protocols, GOOSE messaging, and relay configuration tools
• Experienced in creating control logic (BCPU/BCU) and handling configuration files (SCD, ICD, CID)
• Knowledgeable about various industrial communication protocols in protection systems
• Advanced proficiency with OMICRON testing equipment and Test Universe software (version 4.20 or higher)
• Skilled in testing modules such as Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Differential, State Sequencer, Ramping, Transplay, and OCC files
• Experienced with high-voltage transmission protection schemes including line distance, line differential, transformer main and backup protection, and busbar protection (both low and high impedance)
• Additional exposure to stability testing using CMGPS kits and differential protection for transformers, shunt reactors, and series reactors
• Familiarity with modern digital substation technologies including Process Bus and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) integration
