About La Liberté
Established in 1913, La Liberté serves as Manitoba's independent French-language news outlet. Operating as a non-profit, its mission focuses on informing, serving, and enhancing the French-speaking community through quality journalism available on both print and digital platforms. Beyond its newspaper, La Liberté creates a variety of French-language content including magazines, podcasts, videos, documentaries, and educational workshops. Its team works daily to promote the vitality and growth of the Franco-Manitoban community.
Your Role
As part of the core team covering Franco-Manitoban news, you will tell the stories shaping the community. Your work will often take place outside of the office, emphasizing field reporting and dynamic engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor current events and propose ideas for articles and reports.
- Attend community events and engage with people actively involved in Franco-Manitoban life.
- Organize and conduct interviews with various community stakeholders.
- Research thoroughly, verify facts, and cross-check information to maintain journalistic accuracy.
- Produce written articles tailored for multiple distribution channels.
- Support video journalists during their reporting assignments.
- Collaborate closely with the editorial team to brainstorm, develop stories, and contribute to news coverage.
- Build and nurture a network of contacts within the Franco-Manitoban community.
