About The Role

The Village Bakery Group is a family-run craft bakery with an extensive history since 1964, known for high-quality Bread, Morning Goods, Pies, and gluten-free products. Operating multiple state-of-the-art bakeries in the Wrexham region, including a dedicated gluten-free facility and a large-scale 'Super Bakery,' the company aims to be a national leader supplying premium private label bakery products to retailers such as M&S, Tesco, and Sainsbury's. The Hygiene Supervisor role is crucial in maintaining exemplary cleanliness and food safety standards across all production sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate with the hygiene team to complete daily cleaning schedules efficiently.
  • Ensure thorough cleaning of bakery production environments including equipment, floors, drains, walls, and work surfaces.
  • Assist with dismantling and reassembling machinery for deep cleaning purposes.
  • Execute allergen changeover cleaning protocols correctly to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Operate various hygiene equipment such as foamers, jet washers, and other industrial cleaners.
  • Monitor hygiene standards continuously and promptly address any issues that arise.
  • Facilitate the training and continuous development of hygiene staff members.
  • Maintain accurate cleaning documentation, including cleaning records and pre-operational checklists.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals safely according to COSHH guidelines.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to uphold food safety compliance.

Candidate Profile

We seek a hands-on individual who prides themselves on maintaining high hygiene standards and is confident in a leadership role within a busy, fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in hygiene or cleaning roles within food manufacturing settings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to lead by example and work closely with a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with COSHH regulations and safe chemical handling.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-moving production atmosphere.

Desirable Attributes

  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
  • Background specifically in bakery or food manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience supporting audits and compliance with standards such as BRC.
  • Skills in cleaning production machinery and equipment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of £37,451.70.
  • Hourly wage calculated at £17.46.
  • Employer pension contribution of 3% complemented by a 5% employee contribution, totaling an 8% pension plan.
