About the Role
Our client, based in Northwest Houston, is expanding their team by adding a Human Resources Generalist. This position is fully onsite with standard working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM, and will be part of an evolving HR team.
Role Overview
The Human Resources Generalist will handle day-to-day HR operations and develop HR strategies across assigned teams. Responsibilities span the entire employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, training, and offboarding. The role also encompasses essential HR functions such as safety, payroll support, benefits administration, and workers' compensation. Ensuring adherence to federal and state labor regulations, the position uses workforce data analytics to enhance HR systems and deliver actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR representative for designated departments, managing full employee lifecycle activities such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, safety and leave management, and offboarding processes.
- Develop strong partnerships across teams to encourage open communication, boost morale, and provide tailored HR solutions.
- Advise managers on organizational structuring, talent growth, and effective change management strategies.
- Lead various HR initiatives, business operations, and organizational development projects.
- Manage full-cycle recruitment: creating job descriptions, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, extending job offers, and supporting hiring managers throughout recruitment stages.
- Conduct orientation sessions to facilitate new employee integration.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws at federal, state, and local levels; recommend best practices and review policies to maintain adherence.
- Develop, implement, and execute HR policies and procedures; serve as a primary contact for questions regarding company policies.
- Support managers and employees in resolving conduct and performance issues; provide counseling and advise management on appropriate resolutions, including participation in sensitive meetings.
- Assist with investigations related to sexual harassment, discrimination, disputes, and other sensitive matters.
- Administer benefits programs such as open enrollment, new hire selection, COBRA, and coordinate with plan administrators.
- Support payroll processes by reviewing and approving timecards, acquiring managerial approvals, and ensuring accurate reporting.
- Analyze HR data metrics like turnover rates, time-to-hire, and employee engagement to provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Maintain HRIS system integrity and employee data accuracy; develop additional system features as required.
- Undertake other HR projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 6 years of experience as an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience handling end-to-end recruitment processes.
- Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR are preferred.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms, ideally Paylocity.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with individuals at all levels of an organization.
- Comprehensive knowledge of labor laws, hiring practices, and HR best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with the capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
- High attention to detail and discretion handling confidential employee information.
- Effective planning, time management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to ambiguity.
- Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
