Role overview
The HSE Advisor will support field operations teams by strengthening health, safety, and environmental practices. This position helps build and improve a front-line safety program and plays a key role in training, auditing, and coaching facility leadership on safety responsibilities and program requirements. The role is based in Edmonton, Alberta.
Team and work environment
You will partner with field leaders, frontline staff, and cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment focused on safety and accountability. This is a field-heavy role, with at least half of the working time spent onsite supporting operations and interacting directly with employees. The position is hands-on, fast-moving, and requires the ability to stay visible in the field while balancing operational needs with safety leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support field teams in following SECURE’s HSE management system.
- Spend at least 50% of working time onsite providing direct field support.
- Assist with core safety processes such as iTrak, permitting and hazard assessments, job hazard assessments, visitor orientations, safety tickets, emergency response planning, facility inspections, safety communications, safety manuals, and COR audits.
- Help develop and update HSEMS components when requested.
- Keep safety communication clear and consistent through safety meetings, area calls, and regular updates.
- Work with clients and contractors to align SECURE’s safety practices with their requirements and ensure compliance.
- Continue personal development by keeping safety tickets and related training current.
- Provide other support as needed.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of direct experience in industry-related operations.
- High school diploma.
- Working knowledge of safety management systems and safe work practices.
- Practical experience in training and coaching employees.
- Good understanding of HSE regulations, processes, and principles.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay effective under pressure.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams, regulators, vendors, and contractors.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred assets
- OHS Certificate, CRSP, or NCSO designation, or active progress toward one.
- Hands-on experience performing operational tasks in facilities.
- Preference may be given to candidates who live and maintain a permanent residence in the area where operations are mainly located.
