About the Role
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join the Silverchain team in the Lake Macquarie West area as Home Care Workers. Your role will focus on helping older community members maintain their homes and improve their overall wellbeing through a variety of home and personal care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general housekeeping tasks such as making beds, cleaning, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
- Manage laundry duties including washing, folding, and ironing clothes.
- Prepare meals and assist with grocery shopping.
- Support clients with personal care including assisting them to get out of bed, shower, dress, and take medications.
- Aid mobility and help clients work on therapy goals.
- Provide complex care to clients with higher needs, such as those with dementia.
- Offer social and emotional support to clients.
- Transport clients to lifestyle activities or appointments as needed.
- Relieve family carers by giving them breaks and helping them pursue other activities.
Requirements
- Possess a valid Australian Driver's Licence and have access to an insured, roadworthy vehicle.
- Interest in community or aged care is expected, though prior experience is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work independently and manage everyday challenges effectively while knowing when to seek managerial support.
- Capability to build positive relationships with clients and their families.
- Resilience to handle challenging situations professionally without taking them personally.
