About Naut'sa mawt Event Management
For over 25 years, Naut'sa mawt Event Management (NEM) has played a pivotal role in supporting critical events that impact Indigenous Peoples and communities throughout Canada. Through its departments focused on Event Planning, Reporting, and Art and Experience, NEM fosters community connection and aims to build a better future with a foundation of cultural safety, care, and trauma-informed methodology.
Role Accountability
Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, the Graphic Designer's primary duty is to deliver culturally informed, high-quality design solutions for client projects and internal initiatives. This involves overseeing projects from initial concept through to final output, collaborating with internal departments and clients, and ensuring all outputs meet NEM’s brand guidelines, client expectations, and established timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with internal teams and clients from Event Planning, Reporting, and Art & Experience to create event-related design materials such as microsites, agendas, signage, name badges, reports, and presentations.
- Interpret client objectives and cultural contexts into thoughtful and visually compelling design work.
- Review and refine designs to guarantee accuracy, accessibility, and quality standards.
- Work alongside Indigenous artists to incorporate artwork, ensuring proper permissions, acknowledgements, and compliance with cultural protocols and OCAP principles where applicable.
- Manage design projects from initiation through to delivery, including planning scope, schedules, revisions, and final outputs.
- Coordinate production aspects with internal teams and external suppliers to facilitate smooth execution.
- Simultaneously track multiple projects to meet deadlines and maintain quality consistently.
- Maintain proactive, collaborative communication with teams and clients to support strong relationships and service excellence.
- Create and maintain NEM-branded assets such as templates, proposals, and marketing materials aligned with organizational brand standards.
- Support website maintenance by uploading and formatting content to ensure consistent visual presentation.
- Develop social media content consistent with NEM's communication strategies and brand tone.
- Collaborate to develop digital services and design packages with the Sales and Marketing Manager.
- Contribute to enhancing internal design processes, templates, and best practices across multiple departments to ensure efficient, consistent project outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records in company CRM regarding client information and project details.
- Comply with client and departmental budgets, track billable hours, manage expenses, and handle invoice documentation.
- Organize and maintain both electronic and physical filing systems.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence through opening, sorting, scanning, copying, emailing, and distribution as needed.
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Engage in Indigenous cultural training and strive to stay knowledgeable about Indigenous cultural practices, traditions, and best practices in art and event management to enrich Indigenous event representation.
- Attend departmental, staff meetings, and events as required.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related discipline is required.
- Experience designing for events and multi-format materials (both print and digital) is advantageous.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva.
- Experience with Cvent platform is an asset.
- Knowledge of WordPress content management is beneficial.
- Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities is considered an asset.
Additional Information
- Must have reliable personal transportation for frequent travel within the Lower Mainland, BC.
- Work hours may occasionally include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Attendance for in-person meetings in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and at events across Canada is required.
- This is a remote role for candidates residing within the Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island regions.
- Salary is offered in the range of $65,000 to $70,000 annually, dependent on experience.
