Furnace Operator

Overview

Obeikan Glass Company is looking for a proficient Furnace Operator to join our float glass production team in Yanbu Al Sinaiyah, Al Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The role involves managing the float glass furnace to ensure production runs safely, steadily, and efficiently, while upholding optimal furnace conditions and product standards. Candidates should bring at least five years of direct experience in float glass manufacturing, especially operating furnace systems controlled via Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

Primary Duties

• Operate and supervise the float glass furnace ensuring safety and steady production.
• Control and monitor key furnace parameters such as temperature, pressure, gas emissions, glass level, natural gas firing, reversal, and other DCS indicators.
• Make real-time adjustments to furnace controls to sustain ideal operating conditions and maintain product quality.
• Conduct routine inspections in the field, spot irregularities, and promptly communicate equipment or process concerns.
• Act swiftly during operational incidents by following established emergency protocols.
• Perform routine autonomous maintenance and assist in scheduled and emergency maintenance operations.
• Maintain precise documentation of operating data, furnace parameters, and shift activities, ensuring smooth shift transitions.
• Comply with company policies on Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), quality control, and 5S standards, reporting hazards or near misses.
• Work collaboratively with shift teams to meet production, quality, and operational goals.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or a similar technical field.
• At least 5 years’ experience as a furnace operator in a float glass manufacturing environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of float glass furnace operations and DCS process controls.
• Expertise in combustion systems including natural gas firing and furnace temperature regulation.
• Analytical skills for process troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with preventive and autonomous maintenance practices.
• Strong attention to detail coupled with disciplined operational approach.
• Effective communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Understanding of HSE policies, 5S methodology, and continuous improvement principles.
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a manufacturing setting.
