Role Details

As a Mobile Speed Camera Operator, you will be trained and equipped to safely operate enforcement cameras from a specialized vehicle linked with a central control room. The position requires readiness to work flexible hours with early starts and late finishes, involving physical tasks like conducting risk assessments and checking camera sites. Strong communication with control personnel and managing potentially aggressive encounters is part of the job.

Work Schedule and Location

This role involves a 24/7 rotating roster accommodating weekdays, nights, and weekends. Operators should be prepared to work extended shifts averaging 10 to 12 hours, often driving long distances across regional and remote areas.

Compensation

Trainee operators earn $29.10 per hour during normal hours, with overtime and weekend penalties raising the rate to $34.92 per hour for night shifts and Saturdays, and $43.66 per hour on Sundays. These rates increase upon completion of training.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a valid full driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to remain seated and alert for long periods inside a vehicle.
• Comfortable working independently throughout each shift.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts on a rotating schedule including nights and weekends.
• Interest in road safety systems, health and safety frameworks, and hazard reporting.
