Role Overview

As Financial Controller reporting to the CEO, you will play a vital role in senior leadership, overseeing all financial operations, systems, and teams including outsourced partners. You will embed our customer-first philosophy into every strategic financial decision while safeguarding a culture of efficiency and frugality. This position requires an adaptable leader who excels in remote work environments.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a positive and fulfilling environment for finance teams.
Uphold and enforce a culture focused on financial efficiency and cost-consciousness.
Implement and monitor appropriate financial controls.
Ensure spending aligns with proportionality and return on investment is measured.
Develop and execute strategic plans to meet long-term company objectives.
Set and monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goals.
Drive continuous enhancements in financial systems and processes.
Identify and reduce costs that do not add customer value.
Monitor and report on both team and individual financial performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification.
Minimum of 5 years in financial leadership roles within US-based businesses.
Leadership style that motivates and inspires team members.
High emotional intelligence and strong mentorship capabilities.
Effective communication skills and strategic vision.
Proficiency in data analysis and a strong intellectual curiosity.
Energetic approach combined with uncompromising personal integrity.

Preferred Additional Skills

Experience with financial tools such as Gusto, Zoho, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Avalara, and Carta.
Prior exposure to the pet industry.

Base salary up to $170,000 based on experience.
