Financial Controller

About the Role

A rapidly expanding international fintech company is looking for a Financial Controller to join their finance leadership team. Operating in multiple regulated markets and jurisdictions, this organisation is in a phase of swift growth and requires a financially skilled professional to manage controllership, statutory reporting, audit processes, tax coordination, and financial system governance.

Role Summary

This pivotal position involves overseeing financial control, technical accounting, tax issues, and ERP optimisation within a multi-entity group. The role demands close cooperation with senior finance personnel and external advisors to ensure accurate financial reporting, robust controls, regulatory compliance, and efficient finance operations that support the company's growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close processes to deliver precise and timely financial reports across the group.
• Produce management accounts while maintaining balance sheet accuracy.
• Enhance financial controls covering journals, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and treasury functions.
• Provide transparent reporting regarding cash management, liquidity, and foreign exchange exposures.
• Lead annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors.
• Supervise statutory accounts and ensure compliance across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
• Prepare technical accounting documentation and uphold accounting policies and control frameworks.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on transfer pricing, VAT, payroll taxes, and overall group tax matters.
• Support senior leadership in analyzing tax risks and compliance requirements to aid decision making.
• Own finance systems and ERP controls, promoting optimisation, automation, and reporting improvements.
• Ensure finance systems maintain thorough audit trails and fulfill regulatory and tax reporting standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent certification).
• Proven track record as a Financial Controller or in a senior controllership role.
• Expertise in technical accounting, especially within multi-entity structures.
• Experience handling tax coordination and compliance in cross-border settings through collaboration with external advisors.
• Hands-on knowledge of ERP systems and financial process enhancements.
• Preferably audit-trained professional background.
• Background in regulated financial services, fintech, payment systems, or similarly complex sectors is crucial.
• Ability to communicate confidently with auditors, external advisors, and senior management.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is highly advantageous.
