Overview
Our After Sales & Service team in Ireland is seeking a motivated and skilled Field Service Representative specializing in Controls Engineering. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative setting and relishes tackling complex projects continually.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and document control programs tailored for custom automation machinery, including programming PLCs, PCs, servo drives, robots, and specialized controllers.
- Diagnose and repair electrical controls and mechanical components, ensuring machinery operates smoothly at customer locations.
- Work independently or collaboratively ensuring alignment with customer goals during onsite tasks.
- Develop operational and troubleshooting expertise within the operations team.
- Recommend additional tools or equipment for improved equipment operation and maintenance.
- Make prudent decisions on repairs or replacements, focusing on genuine needs.
- Travel domestically and internationally for both short and long-term support assignments.
- Lead onsite teams and liaise effectively with customers and the project management team.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors to resolve technical challenges.
- Provide detailed daily and weekly service reports, follow up to confirm issue resolution, and conclude projects or cases as needed.
- Participate in rotational on-call duties.
- Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and provide effective solutions.
- Handle warranty and non-warranty claims in coordination with customers.
- Adhere strictly to ethical business practices and the company's Code of Business Conduct.
- Follow all health and safety protocols diligently.
- Exhibit initiative, innovation, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Operate efficiently in a dynamic multitasking environment, collaborating with plant engineers, vendors, operators, and management to manage projects.
- Model the company culture with integrity and professionalism, following established quality, safety, and procedural guidelines.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in programming, electrical engineering, or related field; experience with databases, robotics, or vision systems is advantageous.
- Minimum 4 years practical experience in automation and controls environments.
- At least 3 years of hands-on programming experience with PLCs and HMIs using Allen Bradley or Siemens platforms.
- Willingness to travel extensively, between 50% and 75% monthly.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels under pressure.
- In-depth understanding of pneumatic, electrical, and diverse control systems, including interpreting drawings, manuals, and technical guides.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Capability to swiftly acquire knowledge and efficiently troubleshoot complex systems.
