Role Overview

The Fabricator role, based onsite in Tema, Greater Accra Region, involves the creation of metal components and structures by interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Daily responsibilities include measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling metals using various tools such as grinders, saws, drills, and welding equipment. The role requires performing quality assessments to ensure products meet safety and functionality standards, maintaining tools, following safety protocols, and collaborating closely with supervisors and colleagues to fulfill production deadlines. Additional duties may include supporting installation, repair, or modifications of fabricated products.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication plans with precision in measurement.
• Proficient in metal fabrication processes including cutting, grinding, bending, and assembling steel and other metals using manual and power tools.
• Hands-on experience in welding methods such as MIG, TIG, or arc welding, along with a solid understanding of welding safety and quality checks.
• Knowledgeable about workshop safety practices and usage of personal protective equipment (PPE), complying with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Basic mechanical aptitude familiar with operation of workshop machinery including presses, shears, and drilling machines.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, able to detect defects, misalignments, and make necessary adjustments to meet specifications.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to effectively follow instructions and coordinate with other trades on site.
• Physically fit to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and perform manual labor in an industrial environment.
• Previous relevant experience in fabrication, metalwork, construction, or closely related fields is preferred; vocational or technical training in welding or fabrication is advantageous.
• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
