ETL Tester

About the Role

NovintiX is looking for an experienced Senior ETL Tester to lead the testing efforts for a project involving Databricks, Azure Data Factory pipelines, and Power BI dashboards. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in validating data pipelines using Python and SQL, combined with expertise in test management and automation tools including JIRA, Jenkins, and GitHub/Bitbucket. Familiarity with Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) practices is essential. This role is based in Coimbatore and Hyderabad.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies, plans, and test cases tailored specifically for ETL processes, data warehouses, and BI reports.
• Promote best practices across functional, regression, performance, and automated testing domains.
• Manage test data effectively to support validations for analytics and reporting accuracy.
• Ensure that the testing team complies with the Johnson & Johnson SDLC standards.
• Lead manual and automated testing of data pipelines and visualization components.
• Create and execute test scripts using Python and SQL.
• Track and manage test execution using X-Ray integrated with JIRA.
• Validate the correctness of data transformations and BI visualizations, monitoring their performance.
• Integrate automated tests within Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment efficiency.
• Document and manage defects through JIRA, collaborating closely with developers and data engineers for rapid resolution.
• Prepare and submit formal test summary and compliance reports promptly during test cycles.
• Provide stakeholders with regular progress updates and key performance indicators.
• Maintain test script repositories using GitHub or Bitbucket for version control.
• Lead and mentor a team of testers, ensuring their work aligns with project objectives.
• Work collaboratively with business analysts, platform leads, developers, data engineers, and product owners to ensure full test coverage.
• Drive ongoing improvement in quality assurance processes, automation strategies, and DevOps collaboration.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum five years of experience in data pipeline/ETL testing, including at least two years in a test lead role.
• Proficiency testing ETL workflows on platforms like Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with SQL Data Warehouse, BI dashboards, and reports testing.
• Hands-on expertise with JIRA X-Ray for managing test cases and executions.
• Strong knowledge of ETL testing principles, SQL query writing, and data validation techniques.
• Practical experience using GitHub/Bitbucket for version control and Jenkins for automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with BDD testing frameworks such as Cucumber or SpecFlow.
• Experience working within Agile environments, including Scrum and Kanban methodologies, with integration of DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical capabilities and effective communication skills.
• Experience with cloud technologies supporting Databricks, Data Factory, and SQL environments.
• Skilled in Python scripting for test automation in data pipeline contexts.
• Competence in performance testing related to BI reports and data warehouses.
• Knowledge of automation frameworks like Robot Framework and Selenium is a plus.
