Role Overview
The Environmental Health Educator position is a full-time, on-site role based in Racine, WI. The primary focus is designing and delivering educational initiatives that address both environmental and community health issues. Responsibilities include developing and presenting informative content covering subjects such as air and water quality, housing safety, nutrition, physical activity, and disease prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach programs in schools and community venues.
- Organize workshops and community events to promote health education.
- Provide personalized educational sessions to residents.
- Collaborate with public health personnel to gather data and identify trends related to local health.
- Support programs aimed at reducing environmental health risks.
- Create clear, user-friendly educational materials.
- Respond to inquiries from the community regarding health topics.
- Maintain detailed records and prepare reports for evaluating program effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong expertise in Health Education and Community Health to design and execute evidence-driven educational programs.
- Knowledge of nutrition and physical activity principles to support healthy lifestyle promotion and preventive efforts.
- Experience in developing curricula and conducting teaching or training within classrooms or community contexts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for engaging diverse age groups and audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with community organizations, educational institutions, and public health teams while managing multiple projects.
- A bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Environmental Health, Nutrition, Education, or closely related fields; certification such as CHES is advantageous.
- Understanding of public health principles, environmental health regulations, and the use of data-driven approaches for program assessment is beneficial.
