Role Overview

City Fertility is looking for an experienced Embryologist to join its Toowoomba, Queensland laboratory team and contribute to excellent fertility outcomes at a significant stage in patients’ lives. In this position, you will work across embryology and andrology functions, carrying out advanced scientific procedures with accuracy, care, and professionalism. You will support patients throughout their fertility treatment journey while helping maintain strong laboratory performance and continuous improvement.

The position also offers scope to influence treatment success, guide junior colleagues, and continue building your skills within a supportive national network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out advanced embryology and andrology work such as ICSI, embryo assessment, vitrification, biopsy, cryopreservation, embryo grading, and semen preparation.
  • Complete fertilisation reviews, embryo evaluations, and oocyte identification with careful attention to accuracy and consistency.
  • Follow all witnessing procedures, RTAC requirements, and laboratory compliance standards without exception.
  • Communicate in a clear, respectful, and empathetic manner with patients, medical staff, and co-workers.
  • Take part in patient education sessions, including sharing information related to PGS/PGD.
  • Support and mentor less experienced embryologists according to competency expectations.
  • Keep laboratory records, databases, and reports accurate and up to date.
  • Assist with equipment calibration, media preparation, and general laboratory upkeep.
  • Handle, store, and move gametes and embryos safely in accordance with legal and best-practice requirements.
  • Contribute to quality assurance work, KPI tracking, and improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about IVF legislation, RTAC obligations, and developments in the field.
  • Work weekend, public holiday, and on-call rosters when required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific area, along with proven capability in advanced embryology and andrology techniques.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an IVF laboratory.
  • Strong knowledge of ART processes, applicable legislation, and consent frameworks.
