Job description
Job Overview
Armour Transportation Systems seeks a dependable and safety-conscious Dock Worker to efficiently manage freight movement within their terminal in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule from 8am to 5pm, with a wage of $20 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload freight from trailers.
- Organize, sort, and stage shipments in the dock area.
- Utilize scanners and handle related paperwork.
- Operate material handling machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Confirm shipment accuracy while reporting damages or discrepancies.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area.
- Participate in mandatory training sessions, including dangerous goods and WHMIS.
- Adhere strictly to company safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet delivery deadlines.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior forklift operating experience is mandatory.
- Dependability, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
- Possession of a personal vehicle, as duties span across three different buildings.
- Capability to work safely within a physically demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Regular ability to perform heavy lifting tasks.
- Comfort working in warehouse conditions, potentially involving high noise levels and temperature fluctuations.
- Use of safety footwear (boots/shoes) is required.
- Clean criminal record.
