Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Dispatch Manager to lead and mentor our dispatch team while remaining engaged in hands-on freight operations as needed. This position is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the dispatch department, ensuring timely load movements, driver support, and maintaining high service standards for our electric truck fleet. Daily priorities are set by you, along with coaching dispatchers through complex or escalated situations. You will also directly handle dispatch duties during peak times, absences, or urgent operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and develop Junior and Senior Dispatchers, providing performance feedback and skills enhancement
• Assign daily and weekly dispatch priorities and distribute workload within the team
• Take direct responsibility for load assignments, schedule management, and issue resolution during busy periods or emergencies
• Act as the primary escalation point for problems beyond dispatcher resolution
• Collaborate with drivers, brokers, and vendors to address complex scheduling, routing, or compliance issues
• Ensure strict adherence to Hours of Service regulations across the fleet and consistent enforcement by the team
• Manage electric vehicle charging plans strategically to avoid delivery delays
• Maintain accurate dispatch and transportation management system data
• Analyze and report team KPIs such as on-time delivery rates, empty mileage percentages, load assignment speed, and compliance scores
• Detect patterns in operational problems and spearhead process improvements to prevent reoccurrence
• Develop and update dispatch policies and standard operating procedures as necessary
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new dispatchers
• Coordinate with Operations leadership regarding staffing levels, shift scheduling, and coverage
• Ensure effective shift transitions and coverage continuity, including across time zones

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in logistics or dispatch, with demonstrated team leadership or mentoring
• Proven capability to manage a team while actively handling day-to-day dispatch responsibilities
• Strong understanding of freight industry standards, procedures, and regulatory compliance
• Proficiency with logistics and dispatch software platforms, including intermediate to advanced IT skills
• Excellent written and spoken English communication abilities
• Ability to independently solve complex operational challenges, even under pressure
• Experience setting performance indicators and holding the team accountable to targets
• Adaptability to rapidly evolving priorities, processes, and policies
• Strong organizational aptitude with the capacity to prioritize multiple concurrent issues

Preferred Experience

• Experience managing dispatch operations for electric vehicle or sustainable transport fleets
• Familiarity with dispatch and fleet tracking technologies
• Experience coordinating dispatch activities across multiple time zones
