Desktop Support Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a knowledgeable Desktop Support Engineer to join our team based in Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling and troubleshooting computer systems, performing Windows OS installation and recovery, as well as hardware replacement for both desktops and laptops. Additionally, the role involves data backup, printer setup, and thorough software and networking support across various platforms and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble desktop systems and diagnose hardware issues.
• Install and recover Windows operating systems.
• Replace desktop components such as motherboards, CPUs, RAM, and hard drives.
• Service laptop components including RAM, display, battery, adapter, and manage OS installation and recovery.
• Perform data backup tasks ensuring data integrity.
• Install and configure printers for individual computers and networks.
• Load and maintain software applications including MS Office, web browsers, VLC, Adobe Reader, and antivirus programs.
• Install and troubleshoot advanced applications such as Adobe Acrobat Professional, CorelDRAW (all versions), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe CS Master Collection, AutoCAD (all versions), Autodesk 3ds Max (all versions), and V-Ray.
• Manage network configurations including IP addressing on desktops and laptops.
• Set up file and folder sharing on Windows XP, 7, 10, and Windows Server editions (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019).
• Configure printer sharing over the network.
• Understand and apply IP address classes, DHCP and DNS functionalities.
• Set up broadband routers including ADSL modems and dual-band WiFi routers.
• Manage router bandwidth and related configurations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Hands-on experience with system hardware assembly and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in Windows OS installation and recovery methods.
• Competence with desktop and laptop hardware repairs and replacements.
• Well-versed in backing up data and maintaining data security.
• Experienced in initializing and managing printer installations and network printer sharing.
• Familiarity with software installations and troubleshooting across various productivity and design tools.
• Strong networking knowledge including IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and router configurations.
• Ability to handle advanced networking devices such as broadband and dual-band WiFi routers, and perform bandwidth control.
