Role Overview

The Data Strategy Consultant is a senior advisory position within the Data Office, tasked with guiding clients—primarily in pharma, biotech, and medtech sectors—to leverage data, artificial intelligence, and technology strategically. This role demands a blend of strategic leadership and hands-on involvement, from facilitating initial workshops to delivering executive recommendations. The consultant will assist clients in investment prioritization, governance establishment, and project sequencing within complex, regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Craft and convey data, AI, and technology strategies aligned with the clients' business goals.
• Facilitate client workshops, executive steering committees, and high-level discussions from planning through execution.
• Develop compelling business cases for data and AI investments linked to quantifiable returns.
• Design sustainable governance frameworks for data and AI adoption beyond superficial compliance.
• Advise clients on technology and platform choices, while not directly managing technical development.
• Interpret complex technical issues into actionable insights for leadership, utilizing effective visual storytelling.
• Manage and harmonize senior stakeholder relationships across diverse functions.
• Mentor client teams and internal staff on structured problem-solving and strategic communication.

Candidate Profile

• Exceptional at structuring ambiguous challenges into clear, actionable viewpoints under pressure.
• Experienced in steering senior stakeholder workshops toward decisive outcomes.
• Adept at constructing business cases withstand scrutiny from both financial and technical leaders.
• Skilled in producing polished, stand-alone executive presentations.
• Competent in engaging knowledgeably with data architects and AI engineers without direct technical implementation experience.
• Capable of balancing strong client relationship management with constructive challenge initiation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Data Science, or related discipline; MBA is advantageous.
• Between 6 and 10+ years of professional experience, including over 3 years at a leading management consulting firm or Big 4 strategy division.
• Demonstrated ability to lead client workshops and independently deliver on commitments.
• Solid background in data, AI, or technology strategy, including expertise in governance.
• Experience in the life sciences or other regulated markets is desirable but not mandatory.
• Fluency in both German and English is required.
