Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician based in Canberra, Australia, for an on-site full-time role supporting critical infrastructure within premium data center facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, set up, and maintain servers and network devices.
  • Perform structured cabling, including copper and fiber optic installations.
  • Conduct hardware deployments and decommissions effectively.
  • Monitor and manage environmental systems such as power, cooling, and security.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and conduct thorough troubleshooting.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and tracking of assets.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to maintain smooth data center functions.
  • Participate actively in capacity planning and system upgrades.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in data center operations.
  • Highly proficient in cabling skills, including Cat6/6a and OM3/OM4/OS2 fiber optics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing rack and stack operations.
  • Understanding of power distribution and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Excellent skills in documentation and communication.
  • Capable of lifting weights exceeding 50 pounds and working under demanding conditions.
  • Preferred certifications: Data center certifications such as CDCP, CDCS, CDCE; vendor certifications including Dell, HPE, Cisco; and network certifications like CCNA, JNCIA.
  • Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms and knowledge of ITIL practices are advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range of AUD 78,000 to 98,000.

Work Schedule and Terms

  • Full-time freelance position based on-site.
