About Zof AI and the Role

Zof AI invites candidates to join as a full-time Conversation Designer in San Francisco, CA. This role is integral to enhancing AI products through carefully crafted dialogue systems that manage tone, interaction flow, and especially how uncertainty in AI responses is communicated. The position collaborates closely among design, product development, and AI engineering teams to treat language as a user interface, constantly testing against real conversation transcripts to ensure trust is consistently built with users.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and refine the conversational style of Zof AI’s products including tone, personality, and interactive flow.
• Devise strategies for how AI expresses uncertainty, choosing when to hedge, inquire further, or escalate issues.
• Develop and evaluate system prompts and response protocols alongside AI engineers.
• Design seamless human handoff procedures that maintain user confidence during escalations.
• Analyze actual conversation transcripts to enhance dialogue effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the evaluation team to quantify the quality of conversational interactions.
• Maintain uniformity in voice and style across all product touchpoints and communication channels.
• Continuously enhance the product’s communication quality in every user scenario.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience in conversation design, UX writing, or content design.
• Sound understanding of large language model (LLM) behavior and failure modes.
• Exceptional skill in managing tone, clarity, and voice.
• Able to prototype and validate conversational designs effectively.
• Comfortable working closely with engineering teams.
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality output.
• Strong communication capabilities.
• Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
