Contract Specialist

Overview

This role is designed for an experienced Contracts Expert or Senior Manager in Contracts, specializing in the infrastructure sector, particularly highways, expressways, railways, and EPC projects. The ideal candidate will lead comprehensive contract administration and management under widely recognized frameworks such as FIDIC, NHAI, MORTH, and Railway/Metro contracts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of contract management for large infrastructure projects in highways and railways under appropriate contract systems.
• Identify and negotiate various contractual claims including extension of time, cost variations, delay analyses, compensation events, and price escalations.
• Perform risk assessment before and after contract awards and develop strategies to mitigate potential delays or disputes.
• Handle dispute resolution processes including managing Dispute Avoidance Boards, conciliation, and arbitration with clients and subcontractors.
• Supervise subcontractor and vendor agreements ensuring they are in line with main contract conditions and resolve any commercial conflicts amicably.
• Collaborate closely with project management teams, site personnel, legal advisors, and client representatives to ensure contractual compliance and financial safeguarding.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Law (LL.B) is required.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Construction Management, Law, or Arbitration will be considered an advantage.
• Demonstrable experience of 10–15+ years managing complex contracts in sectors such as highways, expressways, freight corridors, or railway/metro infrastructure is essential.
• Comprehensive knowledge of FIDIC contract suites, Standard Bidding Documents (SBD), EPC/HAM contract models, and Indian contract law.
• Excellent skills in negotiation, detailed delay analysis, claim drafting, commercial insight, and effective stakeholder communication.
