About the Role
Clark Construction Company seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee K-12 school construction projects throughout Southeast Michigan. The role demands more than construction expertise; managing occupied school buildings under tight summer schedules and community scrutiny calls for exceptional leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the entire project lifecycle from preconstruction to closeout.
- Collaborate with Superintendents to create and manage schedules.
- Control project budgets, forecasts, and costs rigorously.
- Handle Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and related documentation.
- Organize weekly coordination meetings with trade contractors.
- Enforce safety standards and protocols for buildings in use.
- Maintain effective communication with school district leadership and stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship to Project Engineers and Coordinators.
Success Indicators
Within the first year, you will competently manage active school projects and meet scheduled opening dates. Over several years, you can progress to managing multiple or larger projects, earning trust from districts, and preparing for senior project management roles.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience managing commercial construction projects.
- Experience with K-12 or occupied school building projects is preferred.
- Strong skills in scheduling and financial oversight.
- Ability to communicate clearly with public sector clients.
- Proven leadership in guiding both field and office teams.
- Familiarity with ProjectSight, Phoenix, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office tools.
