Role Overview

We are seeking a Civil Estimator to join our team focused on estimating for heavy civil projects, primarily in California. The role involves detailed quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and close collaboration with project managers and estimators to support public works project bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze civil drawings, specifications, and bid documents thoroughly.
• Conduct precise quantity takeoffs for heavy civil construction tasks.
• Compile Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and maintain quantity spreadsheets.
• Measure materials and work volumes including concrete, asphalt, grading, earthwork, underground utilities, curb & gutter, sidewalks, ADA ramps, storm drains, sewer, and water systems.
• Support the creation of cost estimates and bid proposals.
• Gather and organize price quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Manage estimating spreadsheets and maintain a historical cost reference database.
• Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs), bid clarifications, and addenda.
• Coordinate effectively with project managers and fellow estimators.
• Ensure timely completion of estimates to meet bidding deadlines for public works projects.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 2 to 6 years of relevant experience in estimating or quantity takeoffs.
• Strong ability to interpret and understand civil construction drawings.
• Proficient in quantity takeoff techniques with high attention to detail.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD software.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on US-based construction projects.
• Knowledge of public works projects specifically within California.
• Familiarity with estimation software such as Bluebeam Revu and PlanSwift.
• Understanding of earthwork, utilities, concrete, and roadway construction methods.
• Experience interpreting project specifications and contract documentation.
