Role Overview
We seek a junior-level team member to support communications, campaign activities, and administrative functions. This role offers a broad exposure to public affairs and strategic communications within a small, dynamic team. Candidates should have a passion for politics, familiarity with various social media platforms and styles, and bring an enthusiastic, detail-conscious approach to both creative and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage leadership calendars, schedule meetings, prepare agendas and notes, and assist with travel arrangements.
- Support invoicing, vendor coordination, and general administrative operations to ensure smooth firm functioning.
- Contribute to crafting and implementing communication strategies, projects, and campaigns.
- Monitor media coverage, social media activities, and industry developments pertinent to client interests; prepare reports and analyses.
- Conduct research on political, policy, and news topics to aid client projects and communications.
- Compile media clip packages for client dissemination.
- Maintain media contact lists and support pitching and engagement efforts with reporters and editors.
- Assist with developing and executing paid and organic social media campaigns through drafting content, creating basic graphics, planning schedules, setting targeting, and compiling analytics.
- Track and report on campaign metrics including earned media and social media performance.
- Draft and revise client communications such as press releases, talking points, fact sheets, newsletters, and stakeholder messages.
- Support client event planning and execution, providing on-site and preparatory assistance as needed.
- Attend conferences, webinars, client meetings, and industry events to gather information and produce summaries and reports.
Work Location
This position is primarily remote but requires regular in-person participation in Washington, DC area meetings and events. Candidates must reside within the DMV region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong multitasking and attention to detail.
- Experience with social media platforms and digital campaign techniques; interest in emerging trends and platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Zoom, and social media management tools; knowledge of Canva, Meltwater, Quorum, and Wix is advantageous.
- Quick learner with adaptability to new tools and technologies.
- Interest in public affairs, government relations, and advocacy related to technology, entertainment, copyright, and telecommunications.
- Experience in Congressional, Administration, campaign roles, trade associations, or advocacy organizations is preferred.
- Strong work ethic, resourcefulness, sense of humor, and interest in news, culture, current events, and Democratic politics are valued.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $55,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience.
