Civil Estimation Engineer

About the Role

ASIA Prime General Contracting Co. L.L.C., a diversified main contractor based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, is seeking a skilled Civil Estimation Engineer. The engineer will play a crucial role in preparing accurate cost estimates and managing tender procedures for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze tender documentation, including drawings, specifications, BOQ, contract terms, and identify inconsistencies or ambiguities, requesting clarifications from clients or consultants as needed.
• Conduct site visits to collect vital project data.
• Source and negotiate quotations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best prices.
• Guide junior estimators on the company’s estimation methods and provide direction on estimate breakdowns.
• Examine estimates created by junior estimators to verify their accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the project scope, including revising supplier or subcontractor estimates to reflect practical construction considerations.
• Develop conceptual and detailed cost estimates that align with project objectives such as work scheduling and materials procurement.
• Oversee prequalification processes and coordinate tender submissions.
• Stay updated on advancements in estimating technology and industry methodologies.
• Provide ongoing mentorship and training to junior estimation staff.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
• At least five years of experience as a Civil Estimation Engineer with a main contractor company in the UAE.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite with strong skills in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
• Practical experience with CCS Candy estimation software or equivalent tools is highly desirable.
• Thorough understanding of quantity take-offs, bill of quantities, tender preparation, cost estimation, and rate analysis.
• Familiarity with construction standards and tendering procedures specific to the UAE market.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
