Role Overview

The Civil Engineer will oversee infrastructure projects along with repair and maintenance activities related to building civil works. This position involves participating in various civil projects, managing CAPEX planning, budget creation, scheduling, and control. In addition to project responsibilities, the role includes the upkeep of guest house facilities, office furniture, plumbing, and painting jobs. The engineer must ensure compliance with all safety norms and legal regulations such as BOCW standards, maintain documentation according to ISO 18001 and 45001, and guarantee safe and efficient management of all buildings and site infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the organizational strategy and values actively, contributing to overall success by meeting objectives set by the R&D management team.
• Cater to business requirements and assist the R&D team effectively, collaborating closely with site infrastructure and other departments.
• Assist Lead Civil & Infrastructure in personnel management, target setting, capability development, knowledge building, and providing constructive feedback.
• Manage infrastructure projects and building maintenance, ensuring operations remain safe and dependable.
• Handle civil and structural design tasks, including preparation of detailed plans for fire hydrants, scrubbers, utility piping, equipment foundations with load calculations relevant to plant utilities and other engineering needs.
• Contribute to project scheduling and execute plans under guidance while supervising civil construction, carpentry, plumbing, painting, piping, and structural modifications and new work.
• Independently supervise site progress, verify measurements, and implement site supervision duties.
• Ensure effective drainage systems for storm and effluent water, identifying potential risks and applying preventive actions.
• Account for environmental and structural hazards during planning and execution stages, proposing preventive measures.
• Manage engineering drawings, building repairs, maintenance, plumbing, guest house upkeep, and coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors for all civil, structural, interior, and exterior works.
• Enforce safety corrective and preventive actions and comply with ISO standards (ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO27001) and other regulatory requirements within R&D facilities, maintaining proper documentation.
• Utilize IT tools proficiently, including MS Office and SAP modules PM, MM, and PS.
• Adhere strictly to all compliance and regulatory obligations, including building stability certifications, safety norms, local statutory compliance, and relevant government codes such as PECO and chemical store building regulations.
• Oversee subcontractors, labor contractors, and service providers ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
• Ensure digitalization and accurate documentation of all civil infrastructure drawings for R&D, keeping them current post any modifications.
• Prepare for and successfully face both internal and external audits.
