Cargo Transport Driver

Role Overview

This position is responsible for operating tractors and other equipment to facilitate the smooth transportation of freight through the airport hub, ensuring timely and safe cargo handling.

Key Duties

• Transport cargo across various airside locations, with attention to special handling requirements for dangerous goods, valuables, perishable, courier, aviation, and mail shipments, adhering to operational, safety, and security protocols.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles and report any issues regarding equipment serviceability.
• Accurately log freight locations to ensure correct alignment with outgoing flights according to operational needs.
• Practice safe working procedures aimed at preventing accidents and mishandling of shipments.
• Apply knowledge and handling procedures for special products such as perishables and pharmaceuticals.
• Operate vehicles and equipment in compliance with company health and safety regulations.
• Ensure all transported cargo conforms to departmental and corporate standard operating procedures.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the department head relevant to the role.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a valid Airport Vehicle Operation Permit (AVOP) or a home country light vehicle license.
• Have or be willing to acquire a Qatari Light Vehicle Driving License.
• Proficient in English communication.
• Experience with aviation and logistics ground support equipment (GSE) operation.
• Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to company and departmental SOPs.
• Understanding of cargo handling regulations and procedures.
• Capability and willingness to complete mandatory training courses successfully.
• Able to work independently in challenging climates and flexible shift schedules to meet operational requirements.
