About the Team
At Nomad, the Financial Operations (FinOps) team is central to our business, ensuring guaranteed payments to property owners. This team collaborates closely across departments such as customer success, sales, engineering, and product to drive our mission of unlocking economic opportunities within the long-term rental community. Role Summary
We seek a Bookkeeping Operations Specialist enthusiastic about managing day-to-day operational accounting tasks while adapting comfortably to shifting procedures. The role requires solid accounting fundamentals paired with flexibility to thrive amid constant changes. Ideal candidates embrace diverse tools, enjoy developing new workflows, and are motivated by building processes rather than just maintaining them.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping activities within AppFolio, including rent advance processing, check handling, and security deposit returns.
- Address internal accounting needs, such as issuing concessions and processing tenant refunds.
- Respond to accounting inquiries from both property owners and tenants.
- Support activities related to move-outs, delinquent accounts, owner payments, and bank reconciliations.
- Leverage financial reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Enhance bookkeeping precision and actively contribute to process improvements during scaling.
Candidate Profile
We value demonstrated capabilities above years of experience. Suitable candidates may have hands-on bookkeeping experience with small businesses or freelance work, prior customer-facing roles supplemented with self-taught accounting knowledge, or comparable backgrounds.

- Proficiency in fundamental accounting and bookkeeping principles.

Desirable Software Experience
- Familiarity with property management platforms such as AppFolio, Buildium, or Yardi.
- Experience using AI assistants like ChatGPT or Claude.
- Proficiency in GSuite applications, particularly Google Sheets.
- Knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks, BILL, or Stripe.
- CRM systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
Additional Preferred Background
- Work experience in startup environments.
- Exposure to property management operations.
- Background in customer service roles.
- Prior positions like Bookkeeper, Collections Specialist, or Associate Banker.
Work Location
This is a hybrid role requiring attendance at our downtown Denver office at least three days weekly. The office is located in an area surrounded by tech companies, coffee shops, breweries, and dining options.
Compensation
The expected pay range for this position is $28 to $36 per hour, varying based on experience and skills.
