The Cloud Centre of Excellence leads the provision of contemporary cloud services, applications, and managed services that support both internal teams and client engagements, emphasizing AI innovations and technology advancements.

As a Backend Engineer on this team, you will engage in backend development tasks, explore and assess emerging technologies, build prototypes, and create production-ready cloud-native applications. Your work will balance development responsibilities, team integration activities, and comprehensive testing.

This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with a talented group of developers to design backend services and data layers for applications.
Develop backend logic including APIs and data repositories.
Coordinate closely with UI/UX teams to ensure seamless integration.
Innovate and experiment by developing proof of concepts using advanced cloud and AI technologies.
Maintain focus on operational excellence, enterprise readiness, security, and compliance in alignment with company standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Possess a university degree or equivalent in computer science or a related area.
Have a minimum of three years of practical experience in full-stack development and project involvement with a focus on backend or full-stack expertise.
Demonstrate strong collaborative, communication, and organizational skills.
Expert knowledge in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js environments.
Proficient in developing APIs for backend and frontend consumption.
Experienced in application data modeling, repository patterns, and cloud storage solutions.
Knowledgeable in performance, component, and unit testing methodologies.
Hands-on experience with containerized and serverless cloud-native architectures such as Kubernetes.
Practical skill in building single-page applications (SPA) using React.js.
Competence in managing source code via Git branching and version control systems.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role in Ontario is between $105,000 and $156,600 annually, with potential eligibility for bonuses. Salary placement depends on factors including geographical location, demonstrated skills, competencies, and other qualifications. KPMG provides a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package.
