Pakajo is revolutionizing cross-border parcel shipping by connecting national postal operators across 23 countries through 441 corridors. Utilizing our proprietary Customs Engine, we enable fully digital customs data transmission and consolidate linehauls, achieving international shipping costs approximately 57% lower than traditional cross-border options. Our clientele includes leading e-commerce retailers and media companies.

Role Overview

We are expanding our own backend team and seek a developer to help build features for our shipping and fulfillment platform. You will create integrations for postal services, carriers, and customer systems, including REST interfaces, EDI transactions, and structured data feeds. Each new connection represents a distinct project with visible impact.

You will collaboratively enhance our Customs Engine by implementing regulatory requirements such as evolving EU customs regulations. Writing automated tests, participating in code reviews, and working closely with the Lead Developer for technical growth are integral to the role.

Required Qualifications

• Completed degree or equivalent training in computer science, media informatics, or related fields.
• Between 2 and 4 years of experience in backend PHP development, with familiarity or eagerness to quickly learn modern frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Strong command of PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with experience using JavaScript frameworks like jQuery.
• Basic understanding of C/C++ and preferably experience with libraries like ImageMagick and native network APIs (Berkeley Sockets).
• Proficient SQL skills, especially with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases.
• Initial experience working with REST APIs either as provider or consumer.
• Good grasp of responsive web design principles and user experience optimization.
• Experience with version control systems like Git and agile development methodologies.
• Keen interest in innovative technologies and AI applications.
• Creativity, self-motivation, ability to tackle technical challenges with thorough and dependable execution.
• Team-oriented with strong communication skills and willingness to learn domain-specific knowledge in customs and logistics.
• Good proficiency in both German and English languages.
