Role Overview
We are seeking an Associate Product Manager to elevate the operator experience of our MK.IO platform. This entry-level role suits individuals passionate about simplifying complex technology and translating operational needs into clear, executable product requirements for engineering teams.
This position operates where video streaming operations intersect with product development. Your crafted user stories, acceptance criteria, and problem statements will directly influence how operators manage live and on-demand video content at scale, distributing to audiences ranging from thousands to millions.
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of streaming platform operators' workflows, challenges, and pain points.
- Convert operational feedback into clear, actionable product enhancements.
- Draft comprehensive user stories with precise acceptance criteria to guide engineering development confidently.
- Formulate problem statements that clarify the rationale behind requests, incorporating data and user context.
- Adapt and refine requirements throughout development cycles based on stakeholder feedback.
- Support teams by clarifying ambiguities, addressing queries, and prioritizing effectively.
- Conduct feature testing from an operator’s perspective to ensure alignment with real-world operational needs.
- Collaborate with design teams to align user interfaces with operational workflows and mental models.
- Translate advanced streaming functionalities into user-friendly operator interfaces.
- Maintain transparent documentation of decisions and trade-offs for both technical and business audiences.
- Define success metrics for product features and monitor their adoption after launch.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
- Approximately 2 years’ experience in product management, technical writing, operations, or a related discipline.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas effectively.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Interest or experience in video streaming domains and workflows.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and software development life cycle.
- Empathy towards diverse user perspectives and operational environments.
- Curiosity about technology and its generated business value.
Preferred Experience
- Background with SaaS platforms, APIs, or developer tools.
- Proficiency or interest in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for data analysis and API interaction.
- Understanding of live video processes, CDN functions, or media production workflows.
- Experience with data analysis for user research and conducting research activities like interviews, usability testing, or surveys.
- Contributions to technical documentation or knowledge sharing platforms.
- Ability to learn intricate technical subjects rapidly.
Location & Working Conditions
Position is based in Southampton, UK, with a hybrid work model requiring 2-3 days per week onsite presence.
