About the Role
This leadership position is focused on guiding global online education initiatives aimed at expanding professional learning opportunities for English language educators and learners worldwide. The Associate Director will lead learner engagement efforts, digital platforms, community development, and operational systems that support impactful international educational programs.
Collaborating with content, technology, partnerships, and program teams, you will develop scalable learning experiences designed to enhance education systems and workforce development globally. This role merges strategic planning, leadership, program administration, and stakeholder coordination within a mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct learner engagement activities including participant support, enrollment management, alumni platforms, social media presence, content strategy, and digital system oversight.
- Design and execute strategies to promote sustainable growth, increased learner participation, and sustained community involvement.
- Ensure all program elements adhere to donor regulations, organizational policies, reporting mandates, and quality standards.
- Work alongside program leadership and cross-functional teams to implement processes for budgeting, risk mitigation, knowledge sharing, and operational efficiency.
- Guide and mentor team members by providing coaching, opportunities for professional growth, and fostering a culture of collaborative learning.
- Participate actively in program planning, business development, and efforts to secure new funding.
- Analyze program data, document insights and lessons learned, and use findings to enhance future programs and reporting accuracy.
- Manage partnerships with universities, nonprofits, vendors, consultants, and other external collaborators.
- Contribute to proposal preparations, donor engagement strategies, and initiatives related to online professional development.
- Promote a culture grounded in accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within remote teams.
- Provide leadership in addressing complex program issues, operational decisions, and emerging priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Education, Communications, International Development, Knowledge Management, Human Development, TESOL, or related disciplines mandatory; Master’s degree favored.
- Over 10 years of relevant experience managing projects, programs, or online education initiatives, with a minimum of 3 years in direct supervisory roles.
- Proven background in nonprofit, international development, or donor-funded sectors.
- Experience leading remote teams and collaborating across geographically diverse organizations.
- In-depth knowledge of online learning platforms, learner engagement tools, communities of practice, digital content delivery technologies, and social media channels.
- Competence in crafting engagement approaches that expand online communities and professional learning networks.
- Understanding of donor protocols, reporting procedures, contracting methods, and compliance mandates.
- Expertise managing external relationships with vendors, consultants, academic institutions, and subawardees.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of effectively representing programs to partners, funders, and professional audiences.
- Adept at navigating cultural diversity and excelling in international work environments.
- Familiarity with project management software like Monday.com or Jira preferred.
- Knowledge of learning management systems, digital badging, open content licensing, and basic HTML considered advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range approximately $110,000 to $130,000 annually, dependent on qualifications, experience, and location.
- Employer contributes 7% of monthly base salary towards a retirement pension scheme.
