About the Role
Shoe Carnival is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Store Manager to join our Bloomington, IN location. This onsite, full-time leadership position centers on supporting day-to-day store operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and motivating store associates. As a critical member of the management team and a key holder, you will help shape a dynamic, customer-focused environment while assisting with store presentation and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage opening and closing procedures as a key holder, ensuring security and readiness of the store each day
- Work closely with the General Manager to help achieve or exceed sales objectives
- Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service and resolve customer concerns with professionalism
- Coach, train, and provide ongoing guidance to store associates regarding company standards and procedures
- Assign daily tasks to team members and efficiently organize staff breaks
- Contribute to the overall visual merchandising and upkeep of the store display
- Handle register overrides, count cash in safes/tills, and carry out cash reconciliation activities
- Maintain high standards in loss prevention and encourage adherence among the team
Required Qualifications
- Exceptional verbal communication abilities and proven leadership sensibility
- Demonstrated positive attitude and passion for fostering quality customer interactions
- Minimum 2 years' experience in retail or customer service
- Supervisory experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Able to attain Key Carrier Certification within your first 60 days of employment
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old due to keyholder and equipment responsibilities
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing and walking, including bending and reaching as needed throughout shifts
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and remain active on your feet for extended periods
