Assistant Project Manager

Role Overview

The Assistant Project Manager position is based in Pondicherry/Amil locations and focuses on project execution within Unilever's engineering domain. The role requires overseeing various aspects such as construction safety, commissioning of equipment, and project scope analysis. Candidates must possess an engineering background and relevant experience with mechanical systems and supply chain projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement construction safety protocols and actively manage both leading and lagging safety indicators during project execution.
• Promote and enforce safety procedures including PTW, MOS, THA, SAM, HI in daily operations.
• Collaborate with factory teams to thoroughly study project scope and ensure alignment with project schedules.
• Work with packaging machines, automated warehouses, and ASRS systems; experience in these areas is preferred.
• Manage commissioning tasks for equipment such as tanks, vessels, machinery, piping, and steel structures.
• Assume full responsibility for the project lifecycle, maintaining a clear project blueprint and ensuring effective management.
• Offer technical support to factory units and coordinate efforts among various stakeholders.
• Possess hands-on knowledge in project and contractor management specifically related to mechanical disciplines.
• Handle vendor management, prepare bills of materials, conduct installation and commissioning on site, and support troubleshooting activities.
• Apply fundamental problem-solving techniques like Fishbone Diagrams, Why-Why Analysis, and other objective analytical methods.
• Present complex technical information professionally and clearly through MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI tools.
• Maintain strong interpersonal communication skills to bridge communications between factory teams and vendors or suppliers to meet project requirements successfully.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies in diverse team settings is essential.
• Oversee contractor and on-site workforce management effectively.
• Be prepared for travel across Unilever and associated contract manufacturing locations.

Candidate Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech) in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Electrical with 3 to 5 years of experience in supply chain, project execution, or engineering areas.
