Assistant Manager HSSE

Role Overview

We are looking for an accomplished HSSE professional to collaborate closely with the HSSE Manager in directing the strategic development, execution, and ongoing enhancement of HSSE frameworks throughout our UAE operations. The position demands comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations, strong leadership qualities, and practical experience within industrial or manufacturing settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the HSSE Manager to enforce and oversee HSSE policies and initiatives consistent with UAE laws and international norms.
• Lead the HSSE team, managing workforce allocation, scheduling, performance evaluations, and escalation of risks.
• Ensure strict adherence to all UAE regulatory bodies such as MOHRE, Civil Defence, and environmental authorities, alongside standards including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Conduct thorough audits, site inspections, and risk evaluations; track and expedite resolution of any compliance gaps.
• Design and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental plans incorporating HIRA, JHA, and proactive hazard recognition protocols.
• Oversee HSSE management systems encompassing risk registers, MSDS documentation, safety performance metrics like ASR/AFR, and reporting tools.
• Lead investigations into incidents, performing root cause analysis and establishing preventive strategies.
• Prepare detailed HSSE reports and analytics to inform senior management decision-making.
• Promote safety awareness campaigns, environmental sustainability efforts, and a robust safety culture within the organization.
• Organize and facilitate training sessions including orientations, safety briefings, emergency drills, and behavioral safety programs.
• Coordinate HSSE activities with internal departments, contractors, and clients to ensure unified compliance.
• Maintain emergency preparedness and first aid standards across all sites.
• Stay abreast of updates in UAE HSSE legislation and provide advisory support to management on compliance implications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a pertinent discipline is required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001, or equivalent are mandatory.
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of progressive HSSE experience, ideally within industrial or manufacturing industries.
• Thorough understanding of UAE HSSE rules including Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defence regulations, Fire & Life Safety Codes, and NFPA standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in conducting audits, risk assessments, and managing compliance protocols.
• Effective leadership and communication skills with strong stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Advanced analytical proficiency including report generation and use of MS Office applications.
