Application Support and Technical Analyst

Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of an international corporation engaged in the trading and distribution of raw materials, metals, and industrial goods for a skilled Application Support & Technical Analyst. This role involves managing the Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) system and associated software applications to ensure operational reliability and continuous enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring uptime, monitoring performance, and overseeing the health of critical trading applications and scheduled workflows.
• Diagnosing and resolving issues related to applications, data flows, system integrations, and operational processes.
• Performing root cause analyses on incidents and managing corrective or preventive measures.
• Delivering application support to internal customers across departments such as Trading, Operations, Finance, Risk, and Accounting.
• Managing user access, permissions, reference data, and configuration settings within applications.
• Collaborating intensively with developers and third-party vendors for incident resolution, system updates, feature enhancements, and software releases.
• Developing and executing comprehensive test cases, supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and validating system changes pre- and post-release.
• Contributing to projects related to reporting, automation, data integration, quality assurance, and improving operational workflows.
• Identifying and implementing automation to reduce manual and repetitive tasks, enhancing efficiency.
• Maintaining thorough documentation, operational procedures, and user guides while striving to refine support processes.

Candidate Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in roles encompassing application support, technical or business systems analysis, or production operations.
• Proven expertise in supporting critical business applications, debugging issues spanning systems, data, integration, and automation.
• Working knowledge of Python sufficient to comprehend and analyze existing scripts, though this role does not require advanced programming capabilities.
• Practical experience with SQL queries, database management, API handling, and scripting techniques.
• Basic grasp of application logs, scheduled processing jobs, file transfer mechanisms, integrations, and foundational infrastructure concepts.
• History of effective cooperation with developers, software vendors, and business end-users.
• Strong analytical aptitude, problem-solving skills, ownership mentality, and capability to operate independently under time pressure.
• Excellent English language skills with the ability to communicate technical subjects clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Advantageous Qualifications

• Familiarity with CTRM or ETRM platforms and commodity trading sectors.
• Understanding processes including trading, pricing, logistics, inventory management, invoicing, settlements, profit and loss, risk, or accounting.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, and business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau.
