Welding Supervisor

Job Overview

This role is primarily responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of schedules and plans, coordinating closely with subordinates to complete tasks in a timely manner. The Welding Supervisor oversees workshop planning during major turnarounds in conjunction with the turnaround section. Responsibilities include managing manpower, ensuring material and spare part availability, and coordinating logistics to maintain uninterrupted maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a team of technicians across various disciplines to maintain workshop operations and ensure work quality standards are met.
• Collaborate with Material Management, supervisors, and end users to guarantee maintenance plans proceed without disruption.
• Work with MRP controllers to secure timely and adequate supply of spare parts in line with maintenance schedules.
• Ensure timely availability of manpower, equipment, and materials by liaising with the Planning section.
• Maintain detailed records of daily, weekly, and long-term maintenance plans and track work progress against these plans.
• Manage attendance and timekeeping for both subordinate staff and hired personnel.
• Generate progress reports and manage document retrieval systems effectively.
• Compile periodic management reports and assist in developing maintenance management procedures and instructions.
• Enter historical data, time tracking, and close out work orders with a focus on quality assurance.
• Prepare risk analyses and assess environmental impacts related to maintenance activities.
• Provide comprehensive status reports to supervisors to facilitate monitoring against plans.
• Implement operational actions onsite and provide feedback to superiors.
• Communicate work completion verbally and through detailed worksheets.
• Offer insights and reports to aid in operating budget development.
• Direct and guide the team to complete scheduled jobs promptly, aiming for cost efficiency.
• Utilize ERP-based maintenance management systems to document and manage maintenance workflows and reports.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of at least a High National Diploma or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
• Welding certification or similar qualification is advantageous.
• 8 to 10 years of pertinent experience, ideally within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Heavy Manufacturing sectors.
• Comprehensive understanding of welding processes including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, and familiarity with related materials.
• Knowledge of industry welding standards and regulations.
• Strong leadership skills with proven supervisory and team management capabilities.

The Welding Supervisor must ensure all maintenance activities adhere to the company's Occupational Health, Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards. The role requires regular reporting and efficient coordination across multiple departments to uphold operational continuity and quality standards.
