Job description
Position Overview
The Treasury Specialist at Telecel Ghana is responsible for managing the company’s cash flow, liquidity, and financial risk. This position ensures adequate funds are accessible for both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives, while maximizing investment returns and minimizing financial risks. Collaboration with finance operations, financial planning & analysis, and other departments is essential to maintain seamless treasury functions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare daily cash position reports and forecast liquidity for short to medium terms to ensure operational and strategic funding needs are met.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cash flow forecasts spanning short, medium, and long-term horizons.
- Optimize cash utilization across accounts and subsidiaries, adhering strictly to regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain and manage relationships with banks and financial institutions, negotiate credit facilities, and ensure compliance with associated covenants and reporting.
- Conduct thorough daily and monthly bank reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, accurately record all transactions, and keep audit-ready reconciliation files.
- Identify financial risks related to currency fluctuations, interest rates, and liquidity; implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee management of short-term investments and debt instruments.
- Support financing activities including the management of loans and credit facilities.
- Calculate loan interest, prepare accruals in line with agreements and accounting principles.
- Validate interest figures from lenders and reconcile any inconsistencies.
- Process precise and timely repayments of loan interest and principal amounts.
- Analyze investment opportunities and funding alternatives to aid financial decision-making.
- Prepare detailed treasury reports covering cash flow forecasts, liquidity assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Provide management with insights into treasury performance and current market conditions.
- Ensure all treasury operations comply with internal controls and maintain proper documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Between 3 and 5 years’ experience in treasury, corporate finance, or the banking sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of cash management, banking processes, and financial instruments.
- Skilled in the use of treasury management systems (TMS) and ERP software.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel including financial modeling.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities alongside strong stakeholder management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), CFA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalents.
- Experience handling international treasury operations and foreign exchange management.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
- Exposure to corporate financing activities.
