Job description
Job Overview
The Tracking & Control Officer is responsible for the comprehensive tracking and oversight of all Dangote Petroleum & Petrochemicals DSR transport trucks. This includes generating detailed spot, daily, weekly, and monthly reports. The officer must report incidents involving the fleet and relay all pertinent information to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate tracking, monitoring, and management of all company vehicles.
- Supervise truck movements, ensure adherence to designated routes, and optimize route efficiency to enhance operations.
- Establish and enforce preventive maintenance schedules to boost driver safety and minimize vehicle degradation.
- Identify and escalate issues relating to non-compliant drivers, vehicle incidents, unauthorized hauling activities, violations of loading times, turnaround times, inappropriate driving behavior, and other operational challenges.
- Collaborate with drivers and Fleet Managers to guarantee seamless fleet operations and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections and suggest corrective measures as necessary.
- Compile, analyze, and summarize periodic reports detailing vehicle locations, speeds, infractions, usage statistics, and significant operational concerns.
- Manage fleet presentation standards, accident documentation, intentional damage claims, and oversee vehicle servicing and maintenance workflows.
- Provide cross-functional support to other teams as required by business operations.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Transport Management, or a related field.
- Membership with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or similar professional bodies is preferred.
- At least four years of professional experience in a comparable role or industry.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Expertise in fleet tracking and monitoring systems related to DSR trucks.
- Experience with maintenance scheduling and vehicle servicing protocols.
- Comprehensive understanding of genuine vehicle parts and accessories.
- Up-to-date knowledge of traffic laws and regulatory compliance.
- Competence in using vehicle tracking and scheduling software applications.
