Role Overview
The position of Production Associate in the Tool Room involves managing daily operations aligned with ISO:9001, ISO:19443 standards, and SQDC methodology to meet shift-wise machining targets and maintain standard procedures. This role supports team efforts to meet organizational objectives within a nuclear safety framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to site Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols and nuclear safety guidelines.
- Raise concerns promptly regarding any EHS or quality issues, including stop work situations.
- Grasp and uphold nuclear safety culture principles, focusing on Important to Nuclear Safety Items and Activities (ITNS-I & A).
- Review machining documentation such as Method of Procedures (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), drawings, Key Safety Lists (KSL), program files, tool sheets, and Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEAs).
- Inspect supplier materials on receipt and record them accurately in the Tool Inventory system.
- Organize materials with proper location tagging and ensure consistent traceability daily.
- Assemble tools per tool sheets, verify dimensions using Zoller equipment, and guarantee timely tool availability for machines.
- Provide on-the-job support for production issues involving cutting parameters, tool deflection, vibrations, finishing quality, and tool lifespan.
- Manage inventory by monitoring routine item shortages and initiating reorder requests.
- Maintain detailed records of tool issuance and breakages using logbooks and TMGP software.
- Facilitate effective communication between shifts through daily logbook updates.
- Utilize measuring instruments competently to check errors and apply corrections.
- Possess knowledge of cutting tools applications, machine troubleshooting, and understanding of both CNC and manual programming.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, TPM, and Kaizen to uphold a safe and clean working environment.
- Collaborate effectively with operator teams and cross-functional units to ensure uninterrupted production and support machine shop activities.
Candidate Profile
- Educational Qualifications: ITI Machinist or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years in tool room operations focused on cutting tools for Turbine/Generator applications.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications.
- Hands-on knowledge of Zoller, Kardex, and Shrink Fit machines.
- Understanding of cutting tool assembly, accessories, and applications.
- Basic knowledge of CNC or manual machine programming and operations.
