Technical Product Owner

Role overview

We are recruiting a Technical Product Owner for a client in Singapore. This role is focused on moving initiatives from a clearly defined problem to a live product result using evidence, product judgment, and strong technical understanding. You will work closely with the Business Product Owner to turn user needs into measurable outcomes, shape the scope, provide clear direction to engineering, and help the team make informed trade-offs without unnecessary escalation.

The position does not involve production coding, but it does require enough technical depth to question engineering choices, experiment with AI tools for prototyping, and build credibility with an experienced engineering team.

Product analysis and shaping

• Build a strong understanding of the product, including its functionality, user journey, technical setup, data movement, and place in the broader ecosystem.
• Work with the Business Product Owner to define the primary success metric and the supporting KPIs that will guide product improvements, and collaborate with engineering and data teams so those measures can be tracked.
• Create the materials engineering needs to move forward, such as requirements, user stories, or product specifications supported by AI tools.

Roadmap and prioritisation

• Share ownership of the product roadmap with the Business Product Owner while keeping it aligned with company objectives, member expectations, and regulatory requirements.
• Rank features and improvements using evidence from user impact, business value, and technical practicality.

Stakeholder management

• Present product direction, supporting evidence, and progress updates to stakeholders across the organisation, including business leaders, members, and regulators.
• Help align different viewpoints and set expectations around priorities, trade-offs, and the uncertainty that comes with product development.

Ways of working

• Use AI tools actively to speed up discovery, prototyping, and specification work, such as creating mockups, drafting technical documents, and testing assumptions before engineering time is committed.
• Maintain ongoing discovery through member interviews, prototype testing, and analysis of usage data.
• Make the trade-offs visible, including scope versus delivery timing, build versus buy, and quick solution versus longer-term fix, then lead the decision-making process.
• Help improve product practices and software delivery processes as they continue to develop across the engineering and product teams.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in product management, product ownership, or engineering roles with substantial product responsibility.
• Strong technical fluency, including the ability to understand code, reason about APIs and data flows, assess technical trade-offs, and participate confidently in architecture discussions with senior engineers.
• Hands-on experience using AI agents to prototype, specify, and validate ideas in practical ways, not just for document summarisation.
• Excellent product thinking, with strong problem framing, disciplined scope control, comfort using data to guide decisions, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across business and technology teams at different seniority levels.
• A builder’s mindset and comfort working in an environment where product and SDLC practices are still evolving, with willingness to adopt and help shape new ways of working.
• Experience delivering in regulated, multi-stakeholder environments such as capital markets or financial services is advantageous.
