Role Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable Technical Operations & IT Specialist responsible for maintaining the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT infrastructure, with a special focus on aiding the engineering team. Duties include upkeep and enhancement of development and IT systems, optimizing cybersecurity measures, and ensuring robust network setups. This role bridges operations and engineering to enhance workflows, automate routines, and foster a productive technical environment throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support a heterogeneous corporate IT environment including Windows, Linux, and Apple devices.
• Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure a dependable and smooth development setup.
• Deploy and maintain secure, scalable network systems.
• Adhere to cybersecurity policies and best practice standards.
• Assist in achieving UK government IT and network accreditation requirements.
• Keep thorough documentation of system setups, procedures, and troubleshooting guides for user self-help.
• Automate repetitive tasks to boost operational efficiency.
• Oversee daily IT functions to maintain smooth management of the IT department.
• Participate in on-call rotations for handling critical system incidents as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in IT operations with multidisciplinary development team support.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 and administration tools.
• Hands-on experience with identity providers, SSO, SAML, and related technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ability to design and manage secure network infrastructure using advanced firewalls and VPNs.
• Strong skills in supporting Windows, Apple, and Linux systems in corporate settings.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern development methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with technical teams.

Preferred (not mandatory) experience includes:

• Security industry certifications like CISSP, CEH, or Security+.
• Network certifications such as CCNA or Network+.
• Knowledge of security standards such as ISO 27001, CyberEssentials, or Defence Cyber Certification.
• Experience with Zero Trust Network Access and similar technologies.
• Competence in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Security Clearance: This position requires eligibility or willingness to undergo UK Security Check (SC) clearance, typically involving at least five years of UK residency.
