Position Overview
This full-time Systems Engineer role based in Christchurch, New Zealand, offers the opportunity to join a leading IT services company focused on innovative technology solutions. The position requires residency or citizenship in New Zealand and operates remotely with occasional presence in Datacom offices across major NZ cities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for diverse technologies.
- Diagnose and resolve issues involving Windows Server, networking components, Azure, Microsoft 365 services, and security applications.
- Support includes participation in an after-hours on-call roster.
- Maintain trusted client relationships by delivering professional and dependable support services.
- Assess client business requirements to inform strategic IT system planning and direction.
- Maintain and proactively update customer infrastructure and related documentation.
- Offer expert advice on designing and deploying high-quality technology solutions and projects.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives fostering service excellence and innovation.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills across diverse audiences.
- Capability to manage budgets, timelines, workflows, and performance standards efficiently.
- Proven presentation skills to effectively explain technical details.
- In-depth expertise in Microsoft 365, including AzureAD, AD Connect, ADFS, Microsoft Identity Manager, and collaboration tools such as Teams, Planner, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online.
- Experience with video conferencing platforms and peripheral systems like Poly, Neat, and Zoom.
- Familiarity with competing IT platform solutions.
- Knowledge in email security and archiving tools including Office 365 ATP/EOP, Datto, and Avepoint.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft SCCM and Intune for modern device management, including platform maintenance and security configurations.
- Skilled in ensuring operating systems and applications are patched and updated, lifecycle management, and platform change control.
- Broad understanding of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, ADFS, DHCP, DFS, virtualization technologies (VMware, Azure, AWS), networking fundamentals, Microsoft Azure cloud services, and endpoint protection.
