About the Role
Ventia is looking for an enthusiastic and capable General Services Team (GST) Supervisor to join our contract team working with Auckland Council, operating from Mt Wellington, Auckland. The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of public areas in Howick and Maungakiekie.
Working across parks, reserves, public amenities, and town centers, this role involves supervising maintenance tasks such as litter collection, bin servicing, cleaning, and overall presentation of community spaces.
This position requires a hands-on leadership approach, encouraging and supporting your team to deliver exceptional service and ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to a facilities maintenance team
- Plan and coordinate daily duties and allocate tasks efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of public facilities, town centers, and adjacent areas
- Manage litter removal, rubbish collection, waste disposal, and sanitation efforts
- Handle staff scheduling and approve timesheets
- Address public inquiries and complaints in a professional manner
- Lead safety toolbox discussions and promote a positive health and safety culture
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to perform at their best
- Ensure quality control and attention to detail in all completed work
- Oversee maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment necessary for operations
- Support operational demands and drive continuous improvement in service delivery
Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams within facilities maintenance, cleaning, waste management, or related sectors
- Comprehensive understanding of waste management and sanitation standards
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and visual presentation
- Experience in workforce rostering, task assignment, and payroll verification
- Ability to motivate, coach, and foster team development
- Familiarity with operating and managing plant machinery related to public space maintenance
- In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and practices
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications
- Comfortable using smartphones and digital tools for work coordination
- Possess a full, clean New Zealand Driver's License
Working Hours and Location
This role is based at 34 Mountain Road, Mt Wellington, Auckland, with coverage areas including Howick and Maungakiekie. Workdays are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
