Role Overview
As the Supply Planning Lead for the Vital Protein brand, you will manage comprehensive supply planning to ensure our products reach consumers on time. You will develop robust supply plans optimizing service levels, inventory, and total delivered costs while coordinating closely with production facilities and partners. This role involves addressing complex supply challenges with cross-functional collaboration to support global health and nutrition solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee supply and production planning including co-manufacturing and co-packing, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Create supply plans that balance supply, service levels, inventory, and production constraints while managing total costs.
- Manage short- and long-term capacity planning (up to 18 months) working closely with factories to proactively solve capacity issues.
- Ensure customer service and delivery targets align with financial and marketing objectives.
- Balance supply needs across multiple sourcing locations including factories and co-manufacturers.
- Define and maintain SKU-level safety stock policies to meet customer service targets while minimizing working capital.
- Monitor and mitigate aging stock risks in alignment with commercial teams; manage obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
- Oversee inventory related to salvage sales and evaluate salvage opportunities.
- Manage inventory dwell times appropriately and continuously improve inventory management processes with new planning tools.
- Identify production build-stock needs based on availability and strategic priorities communicating with stakeholders.
- Lead regular communication with cross-functional teams on product availability, risk mitigation, and preventive actions for shortages.
- Present comprehensive supply outlooks covering days on hand, service levels, working capital projections, and factory performance across an 18-month horizon.
- Support innovation initiatives with supply outlooks and setups.
- Coordinate inputs from operations functions influencing supply outlooks.
- Lead budget planning and set targets.
- Optimize meeting cadence and content with Manufacturing and Operational teams.
- Manage weekly and monthly production reviews and coordinate with Quality Assurance for timely product releases.
- Drive communication flow during major sourcing transitions involving various supply planners.
- Develop and contribute to Supply Planning network by sharing best practices across business units.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or substantial relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in supply chain roles with leadership experience preferred in areas such as demand & supply planning, procurement, logistics, customer service, sales, or finance.
- Experience with SAP APO, OMP, or similar supply planning software is advantageous.
- Knowledge of foreign trade is a plus.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret data and drive decisions.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in supply chain software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, data analysis, and modeling.

- This is a remote position with preference for candidates located in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Arlington, VA, or Solon, OH.
- Estimated salary range: $110,000 to $125,000 base salary; total rewards package includes performance-based incentives, 401k with company match, healthcare coverage, and other benefits.
