Sr API Test Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned Senior API Test Engineer to spearhead API quality assurance, test automation, performance evaluation, and release verification across enterprise applications. This role involves establishing API testing methodologies, creating robust automation frameworks, integrating testing within CI/CD workflows, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality API services.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and enforce strategies, standards, and overall structure for API testing.
• Architect, develop, and sustain scalable automation frameworks tailored for API testing.
• Conduct functional, integration, regression, and comprehensive end-to-end API testing.
• Verify API contracts, validate schemas, and ensure accuracy of request/response data.
• Build and upkeep automated test suites utilizing tools such as REST Assured, Karate, and Postman.
• Embed automated API tests into continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Plan and carry out API performance and load testing assessments.
• Support certification processes for releases, deployment verification, and post-production validations.
• Engage in defect analysis, root cause examinations, and technical investigations.
• Collaborate closely with developers, system architects, DevOps teams, and product management to address quality challenges.
• Establish and track quality indicators, test coverage, and acceptance benchmarks for releases.
• Advocate for enhancements in test automation practices, engineering standards, and overall API quality improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

• Between 7 to 10 years of experience in quality assurance and test engineering roles.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on expertise specifically in API testing and automation.
• Extensive experience in REST API testing methodologies.
• Proficiency with Postman for API evaluation.
• Strong hands-on skill set using REST Assured framework.
• Experience with the Karate testing framework.
• Solid programming capabilities in C# language.
• Practical experience with performance testing tools like JMeter and/or K6.
• Knowledge of API contract testing and schema validation techniques.
• Comprehensive understanding of continuous integration and delivery test practices.
• Experience integrating automated tests with GitHub Actions workflows.
• In-depth understanding of RESTful principles, HTTP protocol, JSON data format, and common authentication and authorization schemes.
• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies within delivery environments.
• Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting aptitude, and effective communication skills.
