Role Overview

This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-impact software engineering team based in Christchurch, New Zealand, working on cutting-edge solutions that integrate embedded Linux and web technologies to control heavy machinery like excavators and dozers. The position involves mentoring engineers, delivering software for earthmoving and paving systems, and bridging leadership with technical hands-on development.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and develop a team of engineers and testers through mentoring, career planning, and performance management.
• Provide technical leadership for embedded Linux and web-based software development using C++, Angular, and TypeScript.
• Eliminate development blockers and promote effective task allocation and prioritization to meet delivery goals.
• Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams across CTCT sites to continuously improve software development processes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated experience as a senior or lead software engineer.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and/or web development technologies such as Angular and TypeScript.
• Proven capability delivering software projects from inception to completion.
• Effective analytical, decision-making, and proactive problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing projects in dynamic environments, preferably involving multiple time zones.
• Bonus: Experience collaborating with engineering teams distributed globally.
