Shift Lead

Role overview

Walgreens is hiring a Shift Lead in Brookhaven, GA for an on-site, full-time position. In this role, you help keep the store running smoothly when management is unavailable, support customers and patients, and make sure daily store operations stay organized and compliant.

What you will do

• Unlock and secure the store when management is not present, including starting required systems, handling opening cash tasks, preparing the sales floor and stockroom, and opening the back door for deliveries.
• Process customer returns, voids, refunds, cash drops, and provide change for registers when needed.
• Deliver a welcoming, service-focused experience for shoppers and patients.
• Greet customers, answer questions, resolve concerns, and offer help with products and services.
• Coach teammates on service standards and customer interaction habits that support a positive store experience.
• Hold store keys and use them to open and close the location as needed without management.
• Support ordering workflows with warehouse and vendor deliveries, including coordination when shipments arrive through the back door.
• Run register transactions accurately and track scanning issues, price checks, items missing from file, price changes, and voids.
• Help managers review order exceptions and assist with reverse logistics such as returns, 1506 items, and empty packages.
• Support the setup and upkeep of displays, including promotional, seasonal, large-format, and sale merchandise, as well as resets and revisions.
• Maintain accurate inventory and on-hand counts across departments, the stockroom, and overstock areas.
• Support the outdate program with the team.
• Perform basic pricing tasks, daily price changes, and signage updates, including work needed for local regulations and compliance programs.
• Assist with cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments when needed.
• Help maintain a clean, orderly, and well-kept store, and request repairs when management is unavailable.
• Support proper food handling and placement, including separating raw and cooked items, using first-in-first-out rotation, and restocking out-of-stock items.
• Use working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
• Assist at the pharmacy out window when requested.
• Help ensure compliance with laws covering regulated products such as alcohol and tobacco.
• Conduct bag checks for team members before they leave the store.
• Follow company policies, maintain respectful working relationships, and complete special assignments as needed.
• Act as a communication link between management and non-management team members when leadership is not on site.
• Pass along assigned tasks to the team, and report customer complaints or disciplinary concerns to management.
• Attend required training and complete assigned PPLs.

Required qualifications

• At least 1 year of prior experience in leadership, supervision, or a retail key-holder role.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, except where not required by local rules (for example, Puerto Rico).

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
• Ability to obtain and keep a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license, where required by state law.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $17 to $20 per hour.
